You then have to return to the office to pick up the trays and tooth bleaching material and to receive a demo on how to administer the product.  The custom fabricated trays are basically like a really thin mouth-guard which fits snugly onto the teeth.  The tooth bleaching material is usually a gel in a syringe that you apply to the front tooth surface of the tray.  You pop it on your teeth and let it sit anywhere from  30 minutes to overnight depending what type of gel your office gives you.  Regardless of the product you are given, there will definitely be some change of color.  The percentage of active ingredient of teeth whitening at home hydrogen carbomide is what matters.  The higher the hydrogen carbomide, the better the result.  The only downside is that stronger hydrogen carbomide could cause teeth to be more sensitive.  If this occurs, use a sensitive tooth paste and this will alleviate some of the dental sensitivity.

            This procedure is very common these days, so all you really have to do is talk to you dentist of dental hygienist about it and let them explain everything in full detail and then just get started!
